January to March 2015 proved to be an exciting time as OSL was awarded our largest project to date, to perform Multibeam and Singlebeam Bathymetry Survey offshore Trinidad & Tobago, in addition to detailed tidal analysis. Data gathered will be used for the necessary Coastal Protection studies due to the vulnerability of Trinidad’s exposed Atlantic coast. OSL’s expert Hydrographic Survey team, HSE and project management team were challenged with data acquisition of coastal and offshore Bathymetric data during the winter swell period, which meant high energy waves and strong winds resulting in difficult survey conditions.

OSL successfully acquired 160km2 of bathymetric data which comprised separate blocks of Multibeam and Singlebeam Bathymetry as per contract specification. OSL performed these works from two survey vessels and utilized the excellent performance of the Reson 7125 SV2 among other highly specialized survey systems paired with our usual acquisition and processing in EIVA Navisuite. Emphasis of the project’s success was demonstrated through HSE, in addition to technical aspects, with the project recording 1584 “Man hours” worked with no LTIs.
It should be noted also that during this time OSL successfully executed and delivered other services to equally valuable clients. These included the supply of Marine Mammal Observation (MMO) services for a 2D Seismic Site Survey offshore Trinidad & Tobago for a locally based oil major, as well as other Bathymetric surveys for Environmental compliance and Port maintenance located offshore Chaguaramas and Claxton Bay respectively.
